Mary B. Neumayr
Deputy General Counsel, Environment and Nuclear Programs
Mary B. Neumayr has served as the Deputy General Counsel for Environment and Nuclear Programs since January 2006. She is responsible for providing legal advice, counsel, and support to the Secretary, Deputy Secretary, and all Departmental elements relating to the Department’s environmental, civilian nuclear, international and national security programs. Prior to becoming Deputy General Counsel for Environment and Nuclear Programs, she served from March 2003 to January 2006 as Counsel to the Assistant Attorney General for the Environment and Natural Resources Division at the U.S. Department of Justice.
Prior to her government service, Ms. Neumayr was in private practice with the law firms of LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & McRae in San Francisco (1996-2003) and Coudert Brothers in New York and San Francisco (1989–1996). Her private practice included representing U.S. and international clients in commercial litigation and in regulatory, legislative and other matters involving the energy, insurance, technology, manufacturing and other sectors.
Ms. Neumayr received her bachelor’s degree from Thomas Aquinas College in 1986 and her J.D. degree from the University of California, Hastings in 1989 where she was Note Editor of the Hastings International & Comparative Law Review. She is admitted to practice in California, New York and the District of Columbia.
