About Us
The Office of the General Counsel is responsible for providing legal advice, counsel, and support to the Secretary, Deputy Secretary, and all Departmental elements, except the National Nuclear Security Administration and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and for effectively representing the Department as counsel before Federal, State, and other governmental agencies and courts.
This Office assures that the Department operates in compliance with all pertinent laws and regulations.
